WEST FARGO, ND - The 29th annual Big Iron Farm Show, North Dakota's premier agricultural event takes place Sept. 15-17, on the grounds of the Red River Valley Fair, West Fargo, ND.
Visitors of the Big Iron Farm Show who are more enthralled with the latest fashion trends than the newest farm equipment will be thrilled with the Women's Day activities Wednesday, Sept. 16th.
Everything from camaraderie to crafts is scheduled for the day dubbed as "Women's Day" at Big Iron.
As the featured event on Women's Day, the brunch will be held at a new location this year. The popular brunch, entertainment and style show will be held in the Woodland Square Ballroom of the Best Western Doublewood Inn, located at 3333 13th Avenue S., which is two blocks east of the West Acres Shopping Center in Fargo. The Big Iron Farm Show "Fun Bus" will be available beginning at 8 am to transport attendees between the fairgrounds and the Doublewood Inn during Women's Day. The bus will also shuttle passengers between the Big Iron Show and the West Acres Shopping Center each day.
The brunch will begin at 10 am Wednesday, Sept. 16. Doors will open at 9 am.
More than just a brunch, the event features great food, live entertainment, a style show and fantastic door prizes. Emceeing the event will be Sandy Buttweiler of KFGO.
Eric Bergerson, from Fertile, MN will entertain this year with comedy and music. The entertainer plays the piano and chats about ‘life down on the farm'.
Models from three local clothing stores, Catherine's, Dress Barn and Coldwater Creek, will showcase the latest fashions during a style show. Another popular aspect of the event is the door prizes which are given away, ranging from gift certificates from the West Acres Shopping Center to craft items purchased at the Big Iron Craft Show. Each year, the organizing committee also gives a North Dakota related table favor to each attendee. This year's table favor will again include a Pride of Dakota item.
The Women's Day brunch has been part of the Big Iron Farm Show nearly every year, according to Betty Eckert, Ayr, and Ilene McLean, Wheatland, who co-chair the event. They work with a committee to organize the event.
"We have always had a pretty good crowd," McLean says. "A lot of women come with their husbands (to the Big Iron Farm Show) and this is an activity for them, although there are a lot of people that aren't farm-related that come, too."
In the past years, 450 to 500 women have been part of the Women's Day brunch audience.
Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door (which opens at 9 am). Be sure to arrive early, since seating is limited.
